This renovation and extension reimagines a much-loved family home as a beautiful, highly functional residence. The brief called for generous entertaining areas, extensive storage and interiors with bold character and lasting impact.
The design negotiates the junctions of old and new with a language that blends classic and contemporary forms. Proportion, detailing and rhythm were critical in creating a cohesive home and meeting the clients’ vision for individuality.
Colour and cabinetry drive the interior character. Shaker profiles, repeated across spaces, provide a consistent framework, while hand stained timber anchors each space together. Rich tones, from burgundy to green to purple, are layered throughout, each space defined by its own identity yet always connected back to the whole through continuity of profiling and material. Bold moments are tempered by intervals of neutral relief, allowing intensity without overwhelm.
The result is a house of scale and presence, yet one that retains warmth and intimacy. Expansive open-plan areas coexist with distinct rooms, each carefully composed through colour, joinery, and detail to create a unified, enduring home.
