This interior renovation redefines the heart of a contemporary home in Geelong’s CBD area through balance, simplicity, and craftsmanship. The brief sought to resolve an awkwardly shaped kitchen and living zone, creating a space that feels calm, functional and enduring.
The design celebrates the detail in simplicity and the value of local manufacturing. A new kitchen anchors the home, opening the plan through the reduction of an existing dividing wall and introducing a generous island bench and integrated appliances. The addition of a built-in banquette seat reclaims under-utilised space, providing compact dining with a soft, textural presence that complements the home’s restrained palette.
Warm timber cabinetry and solid surface benchtops define the tactile material language that is both refined and robust. Sustainability underpins every decision on this project, from the use of locally fabricated materials and energy-efficient appliances to the improved thermal performance and design for longevity.
